What is an IFSC code?
IFSC (Indian Financial System Code) is the 11-character code that identifies a bank branch for NEFT, RTGS and IMPS transfers: 4 letters for the bank, a zero, and 6 characters for the branch. After a bank merger the old IFSC can stop working, so check it before you add a payee or update your bank account on the income tax portal.
