Frequently asked questions

Which FSSAI registration do I need?

Basic registration is for small food businesses with turnover up to ₹12 lakh. A state licence applies above that, and a central licence applies to larger businesses (above ₹20 crore) and to importers, among others.

Does an IEC need renewal?

An IEC doesn't expire, but it must be updated on the DGFT portal every year between April and June, otherwise it can be deactivated.

Do I need GST registration to get an IEC?

No. An IEC is issued on the basis of PAN, though you may still need GST registration for your trade.
